The conflict between the armed forces of West Pakistan and East Pakistan ended in December 1971. This gave East Pakistan, Bangladesh independence from Pakistan.

December Rising is a story written about the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. The book is written by Sean C Ward who is a commercial aircraft engineer by profession and also worked as a volunteer development worker in India.

The main protagonist of the story is the young and energetic Dr Meena and Shane who is an engineer by profession. We see the determination of the doctor who wants to treat patients across the borders irrespective of the dangers and difficulty of the situation.

It is a captivating historical fiction. Dr Meena is the hero and the entire story revolves around her. She is a young doctor who is full of courage. She confronts many evils to protect herself and her community.

The book is the historical account of the liberation of Bangladesh. The author has successfully merged the fiction with reality. The harsh reality of war is is vividly shown where armed forces as well as civilians took part to bring the change.

The thriller contains war scenes which takes the readers on an emotional journey. While reading through the story we also discover India's contribution in the War of Bangladesh.

The narration of the story has been mixed well with the actual dates of history to give it a real affect. The author writing style made the reading experience more exciting. I really enjoyed reading the story. It describes how a nation came into existence.
