AUTHOR INTERVIEW: SUNIL B.MASHRUWALA
I had a chance of interview Sunil B. Mashruwala, Author of the book Sharpen Your Wits. Our conversation has been summarized below :-
Q1. What are the elements you focus on when you write a book?
πΈ The teasers should be error free and should be written in a very lucid language.
Q2. What was your main motive behind writing this book?
πΈ I was compiling the teasers since my college days. And since there aren’t many teaser books available in India by Indian authors, I thought of sharing them with the public.
Q3. What are you planning to write next; would it be a fiction or non-fiction?
πΈ I am ready with two more teaser books and one on riddles. I am writing a book titled ‘Joy of Numbers’.
Q4. Did you face any difficulties while writing this book?
πΈ Not quite. There was little bit of problem with the English language part of it.
Q5. What do you like to do in your leisure time?
πΈ I am a voracious reader. I like biographies and autobiographies, history especially Indian, self-help books and of course teaser/puzzle books.
Q6. What are your hobbies other than writing?
πΈ Reading. I have a very good library at my home.
Q7. What do you suggest to the authors who had tried to write a book but couldn't complete it?
πΈ You should not only have the initiative but also have the finishiative. If you start writing a book then finish it. If you are short of ideas, then take a little break; do some brooding over the subject, or just write few lines a day and soon you will have the manuscript ready. In case of any difficulty, approach an author who has already published a similar book. BecomeShakespeare will help you in identifying an author for your subject.
Q8. Please share some memories from your childhood!
πΈ My childhood was very happy one. I was in a good school and college and the environment in these two institutions was very conducive. I had tried to write a book when I was in school but failed miserably in getting the manuscript ready.
Q9. Also tell us something about your journey with books. How have you enjoyed your publishing journey so far?
πΈ Actually, the first publisher to publish my two books was Liberty Publishers and I was very happy working with them. Then Scholastic approached me for a teaser book for children and my third book was published by them. Fourth one is with BecomeShakespeare.
Q10. Do you like playing games in order to burst off your stress? If not then what do you do to cheer up yourself?
πΈ I read and write. I am very fond of writing also or meet some people for recreation.
Q11. As a writer do you still read books or you quitted reading?
πΈ I read a lot. Reading is my primer hobby.
Q12. Which book is beside your bed right now? Please share the insights of the book you are reading nowadays.
πΈ The title of the book which I am reading at the moment is ‘48 Laws of Power’ and ‘The Joy of Recreational Mathematics’.
Q.13. Tell us something about your journey with BecomeShakespeare.com.?
πΈ The journey was smooth except few hic-ups. The experience working with BecomeShakespeare was excellent. The type of support I have received was unprecedented. The project continued for almost one year but at no point of time the cooperation was withdrawn. I am extremely happy with this publisher. The book and e-book have been made error free. The book has come out very well. I have to make a special mention of Mr. Shreyas Prathamshetti and his assistance and help to me. It was extraordinary. I highly recommend BecomeShakespeare.
