AUTHOR INTERVIEW : PARINIETA AHUJA
π« I was fortunate enough to have an interview with Author Parinieta Ahuja. Recently her first book was published by the name of "Imaginations Wild". Her novella was highly recommended for the young and old by The Times of India. Our conversation has been summarized below :
1.Can you briefly introduce yourself
π« Hey, I just graduated with a combined Masters and Bachelors degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University at Buffalo in New York. I will be starting working in the biotech industry soon this year and will continue to work on writing on the side. I was brought up in New Delhi, India, and I was 21 years old when I wrote my book draft.
I have written in some form or another all my life. From writing poems when I was young to writing in my journal and not writing a fiction story. I think it is the best way in which I can express my innate feelings. It is through my character's stories that I express my zest towards life. I cannot wait for everybody to read it and tell me more about what they think.
2. Who's your inspiration in writing?
π« I guess I have always been a writer. Growing up I have penned down my thoughts every now and then. There wasn't just one moment but there was a moment when I decided after having written this book where I felt like I wanted people to read it and that's when I thought maybe writing could be something pursued as a hobby.
3. Share some memories from your childhood days
π« I remember going to the children's park with my parents and having absolutely the best time.
4. How do you like to spend your leisure time ?
π« I love reading, going out and exploring new places and writing more. I enjoy dancing, occasional singing, and theatre. I hope I can get to the theatre and enjoy seeing it and maybe even doing it. I also hope to get tennis lessons soon.
6. Which is your favorite genre ?
π« My favorite genre is fiction. I love thriller novels by a lot of authors, especially Agatha Christie.
7. In the publishing industry did you experience anything which you would never forget ?
π« I have absolutely loved this journey. It was a new experience with little to no expectations. So I am super excited to see how this story will further continue and pan out my writing journey.
8. What are you planning for your future projects ?
π« I hope to explore more of Anam's journey and develop the character further. I hope I will be able to do justice to Anam and her story.
9. Which is your most favourite book ?
My favorite book is 'Sharp Objects' by Gillian Flynn.
10. Would you like to give some tips for the inspiring authors ?
π« I think I am constantly learning every day too. But I think one thing that I strongly recommend is to trust your gut and your story. Not everybody will like it but what matters the most is that you like it. and to be patient with yourself.
11. What is your take on friends in life?
π« Friends are important. They are your family away from home. and it is very important to have close friends who support you and will be there for you whenever you need each other.
12. You have a unique character development and style. Which character is your favourite and why ?
π« My favorite character is the protagonist. She is extremely ambitious and emotionally expressive and that inspires me to be a better person everyday. Her ability to love selflessly and be there for her family and friends is also an important characteristic.
13. Advice for our readers.
I hope when you read Anam's story, you not only relate to it but you also believe that Anam is you, or she could be you.
