AUTHOR INTERVIEW

🌺🌺 AUTHOR INTERVIEW 🌺🌺

I am very happy to interview author D.G.Bonnie. She has written the book Planet of Troy which is very famous among the readers. Our conversation has been summarized below :

🌺 Can you briefly introduce yourself

This question makes me go crazy! I have to tell someone about myself in a few words of mine, and the other person will judge me from my words in less than a minute. And by chance, I am not able to explain myself as per the other person’s expectations (expectations that will vary from person to person), the other person may get me wrong from my own words. πŸ™‚

Yet to answer formally: I work in IT, live in Australia, born in India, love my family, my friends, outdoor sports, art, music, books, science, space, comics, Mahabharat, spending time with my dear ones – sounds so boring isn’t it? I am very weird in many ways and still in search of my true self while keeping an open mind to accept people, varied opinions and am trying to become at least a little better human being than yesterday.

🌺 What inspired you to write this book?

The journey triggered years back when I wanted to pen down a story on those who are yet to be discovered. Amidst all my favourites, I could not set aside my fascination on life outside the Solar System and this Novel Series (The Unknown Lands of Magneta) is a harvest of the same passion and fruit of a belief that every happening is the result of the minutiae of people’s mind. Somewhere we are searching out in the space for another existence who are very similar to us, and yet different from us. Book 1, Planet of Troy, gives it a start. You would see total 5 planets bursting with life (Troy, Cursia, Tusran, Tabula and Holo) out of total 18 planets of Star Magneta. Much more variations ahead! This sequel would gradually develop with knowing her people first, then moving along with their stories and lives; eventually gets deeper in its own genre as the next sequels line up.

My job demanded travel and allowed me to meet people worldwide. Each and everything in this beautifully conscious race fascinated my thoughts while writing about another unworldly World. I wanted to find these beautiful minds, with varieties, with intricacies, surviving in challenges, fighting yet going strong in odds, striving with outside complexities in order to attain the simplest of a peaceful life – could not be a better interest factor to derive and drive a piece of writing.

I wanted to build another set of Planets where I can play around with my creativity, Science Fiction and able to resolve practical issues – an amalgamation of a fantastic new destination this generation would be able to grow with and learn from.

🌺 What was the most surprising thing you discovered while you were creating and writing your novel?

I have heard about it from my Father but really discovered it while writing this book. The characters and storyline travelled in paths I have never imagined. One funny ‘Backfire Syndrome’ took place! I broke the trend by mixing a philosophical genre into this Science Fiction and was myself surprised how it blended in the overall genre as most of the readers seemed to have enjoyed it. In this process, Monk-God Narad asked a question to Lord Vishnu. After that, I did not know what Vishnu should answer. And Narad stood on my head to clear his dilemma. It became a real life problem for me. I played a trick on the Monk-God and sent him to a voyage to all the Universes where there were life. Funny to ditch him, but, what a relief it was! A point came, when I made my mind to take this entire part out of the Novel if I did not find a cure to his dilemma. At last, by Vishnu’s blessings, just before Narad’s return (about 4 to 5 months), I found what Vishnu had to explain. It was a unique feeling and realization for sure! Surprising was what I wanted to create vs what I eventually created and yet felt happy about it!

🌺 Why did you choose this genre? Are you going to try other genres too?

Why I chose Science Fiction as a Genre:

· Space has thrilled me since childhood. If I were in USA, I would have been working in the field of Astronomy. I still dream about massive size plants in the Sky, much larger than how we see moon.

· I always believed that in this endless multiverse and countless planets, we could not be the only lucky ones with life.

· A parallel world with a new group of living beings resolving conflicts with their physical, emotional, chemical science – science is everywhere connecting all of us through an invisible thread.

Choosing Other Genres? Definitely, creativity cannot reside in boundaries however; I wish to work on one book at a time. I have just completed by next work on my biggest passion Mahabharat on Princess Lakshmana, a Central Women Protagonist who has seen the two completely opposite viewpoints of the Epic, being Duryodhan’s Daughter and Krishna’s Daughter-in-law. Soon, would be back with this Science Series Book 2.

For sure, I wish to write a fun-filled novel on IT in near future, but wondering if I should publish it until my retirement as an IT professional, LOL.

🌺 What is the main aim of this book?

A relaxing yet engaging read after a long tiring day of work. When someone would lounge on the bed holding this book after a long day of work in office or at home, this novel should transcend the tired reader to a fantastic and comforting new world.

🌺 In your opinion what are the most important elements of good writing

My Rainbow (Super-Seven) on this:

1. Screenplay – when I read it, I can see it

2. Character – when I read them, I can feel them

3. Plot and Dialogs – when I read it, I travel with it

4. The End points – when I read end of each chapter or end of the book, I know I am surprised and impacted and I found my new favourite in the world of books

5. Moral – when I read it, it leaves a mark of value on me

6. Something new – an idea, a moral, a concept or even an emotion that was never thought before, never spoken before or never analysed before

7. Feel good factor and fragrance – when I read it, I simply enjoy it. Pen up to write colours of life. Pen-down to leave a Fragrance of inspiration on life.

🌺 Who is your favourite author?

Rabindranath Tagore and Satyajit Ray. And I love writings of my Father, his poetry – he is a natural and spontaneously writes lines that can create history.

🌺 Which is your favourite book and why?

The Mahabharat – the Parent Epic that can give birth to a million books and authors; and touches every aspect of human life. Every time I read a part of it, I discover something new.

🌺 What is the most difficult part in the process of publishing?

The selection process of traditional publishing and its queue time; the recognition of a good book when the author’s name is yet to be a brand.

🌺 What are your future plans in the book industry?

When you say Industry, I see it larger than writing and publishing a book. I dream to implement processes that would:

· minimize the queue time for authors

· bring recognition for the deserving ones faster and

· enable me to contribute in my own ways for the well-being of the Industry people behind the scenes

🌺 Your message for our readers. Also tell us something about your journey with BecomeShakespeare.com. How have you enjoyed your publishing journey so far?

Read. Read to enjoy. Read with an open mind. Finally, before giving up on your reading habit, pass it on to the next generation. Create Readers! Gift books to the young, and not gadgets.

It has been a lovely journey while publishing ‘Planet of Troy’. The BecomeShakespeare team is highly professional, honest and organised. The assignment of a dedicated project manager, the transparency in communication and the post publishing support options are key reasons why one author would like to continue working with BecomeShakespeare. My best wishes for the team.
